Youth Dance Classes

Greta Schoenberg (aka "Miss Greta") offers ballet and contemporary dance for kids at three studios in Healdsburg, presented as part of

Healdsburg Dance Collective's Youth Program.

She also teaches weekly drop-in adult classes.

TWIRLING TOTS

Toddlers

Twirl along with your tots in this movement class for toddlers (1+ recommended) and caregivers with lap games, simple songs, sign language, obstacle courses and toddler-friendly dances.

PRE-BALLET

Preschool

An intro to basic ballet and creative movement for preschoolers* through playful movement games, songs, obstacle courses, free dance with props, and basic ballet steps to classical music. Parents return to watch the last 10 minutes of every class for a mini "show".

BALLET II

Grades 3 - 6

A full classical ballet class for young dancers ready to build technique, musicality, coordination, flexibility, and artistry in a focused setting. Parent demonstration on the last day of each session. Ballet I not required. Beginners welcome.

CONTEMPORARY II*

(Grades 3 - 6)

This experimental class teaches fundamentals of contemporary dance technique, composition, and improvisation through collaborative movement games and age-appropriate choreography. Contemporary 1* not required. Beginners welcome.

TEEN CONTEMPORARY

(12+)

A hybrid dance intro for tweens/teens who are new or returning to dance that introduces technique from ballet, contemporary, jazz, and musical theater through a thorough warm-up followed by movement across the floor, improvisation and choreography. No dance experience necessary!

TEEN/ADULT BEG/INT BALLET ( 12+)

Teens are welcome in this adult ballet class with a full classical barre and moderately paced center for new or returning dancers. Co-taught by fellow Healdsburg Dance Collective Co-Founder Gianna Davy (alternating weeks). Teens must pre-register for the full session to insure progressive development as a group. (Adults may drop in for single classes or buy a class card). See Adult Dance page for more class options. Beginners encouraged.

Greta is brilliant at connecting with students of all ages and instilling in them a love of movement while teaching foundations, technique, and the rules of the dance classroom. She motivates each dancer to be their very best while keeping the choreography fun and age-appropriate. Our daughter wasn't sure she would like ballet, but Greta has inspired her to make dance a part of her life.
