In the tradition of the world’s top dance schools, training starts with creative movement, theatrical games, and an introduction to basic ballet positions to classical music.
REGISTRATION
All Movewell Dance classes are now presented through the Healdsburg Dance Collective, a local dance organization supporting independent teachers through shared resources and dance advocacy (I am a co-founder). Request registration for this or any of the HDC Youth Program classes through the form linked below. All class communications and payment will then be handled directly through individual teachers. Scholarships and payment plans available.
Dropoff/Pickup: The classroom will open at 4:00 to allow time for teacher setup. Parents are asked to drop off or remain outside the classroom as we build toward independence. They are welcomed back in for the last 10 minutes of each class for a short parent "performance" so dancers gradually get used to dancing in front of an audience. Please leave your child with a water bottle and have them go to the bathroom before class.

Dress: Children may express their creativity with any color leotards, tutus, ballet skirts (above knee), or stretchy, form-fitting pants and shirts. Tights optional, "convertible" tights recommended so they can be pulled up when floors are slippery. Ballet slippers* (typically pink or matching skin tone) should fit snugly (but not too tight). I highly recommend shoes without drawstrings like these. No accessories or costume pieces like tiaras or wings that could fly off or cause distraction. Long hair should be pulled back.
